The Modern Hypocrites Minute Track 8: Oasis – Don’t Look Back In Anger - I want to use this series of live recordings to spotlight songs that inspired me to learn guitar and write songs. The eighth song I want to spotlight is Don’t Look Back In Anger. For me Oasis was THE band. I had fallen in love with music at a very early age. When I became a teenager music started to intrigue me. Punk Rock and Nirvana made me want to learn guitar. Oasis and in particular Noel Gallagher made me want to be a songwriter. It was the album “Definitely Maybe” and the song “Live Forever” specifically that made me start writing songs, but the song that changed everything for me was “Don’t Look Back In Anger” because it was the first time I the world hear Noel Gallagher sing lead vocals on a single. He had done a couple B-Sides, but this was something different. Noel once said, “It’s about looking forward rather than looking back.” That to me is what made Noel someone I wanted to write like. I adored Nirvana and Kurt Cobain’s songs, but I couldn’t relate to his negativity or his pain. I haven’t had the easiest life, but I always try to look forward to how I could make the future better as opposed to looking back on mistakes I made in the past. “I’ve never met a girl called Sally in my entire life” - Noel Gallagher.
All songs were recorded with a 1st Take is the Best Take Punk Rock Philosophy.
